LightNest 。 光之巢
LightNest was probably the only design project which is located outside of Klang Valley Malaysia that Core Design Workshop had undertaken, to date at least. It is also a rare one that we did not strip down the entire building to reconfigure spaces but rather remodelled partially to an existing 2 storey detached private residence in Seremban 2 to re-create a new living room and a veranda next to the dining.
Taking down the original single storey living room was the primary brief to the project, we began to understand what the clients were looking for in their house was nothing but living with spaces of great spatial quality and lights.
In this tropical part of the world, bringing daylight into a house is never a straight forward solution. Direct sunlight brings undesired heat and harmful UV whereas daylight is harsh and glare to the eyes. To live with natural daylight in harmony in Malaysia requires strategic planning and creative solutions, and that is what that formed the core of the project.
